The Mona Lisa star, who moved to New York from his native London, England in 1976, was granted U.S. citizenship last month (Apr16) following a 23-year legal battle, and now he is ready to get back to work.

He has joined the line up for the 17th Annual Gathering of the Juggalos three-day event in Ohio this July (16), when he will perform alongside the likes of Tech N9ne, Twiztid, Suicide Silence, and Gwar, reports

Slick Rick's citizenship victory came after he was fully pardoned in 2008 for various legal issues over the years, including attempted murder charges relating to the shooting of his cousin/bodyguard Mark Plummer in 1991. He served five years behind bars and was subsequently released on parole, which was completed in 2000.

He was also arrested in 2001 for trying to enter the U.S. through Florida following a concert on a cruise ship. He spent 17 months at an Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) facility and was released in 2003.
