British-born rapper Slick Rick has discovered he has some powerful friends as he fights a new deportation order that could lead to him getting kicked out of his adopted America. Respected Hip-Hop Summit Action Network official DR BENJAMIN CHAVIS has taken on the rapper's case, firing off a press release aimed at the authorities trying to end Slick Rick's stay in the US. He writes, "With all of the real and present threats to American society from terrorism, why is the government chasing this rapper? It's an obscene misuse of scarce resources." A Florida judge recently overturned a three-year-old ruling that allowed the rapper, real name RICKY WALTERS, to remain in the US despite his 1991 attempted murder conviction.
