Rocker Slash has joined the line-up for this weekend's (18Feb12) Muhammad Ali birthday celebration in Las Vegas.
He will join Stevie Wonder, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Chris Cornell, Lenny Kravitz, LL Cool J, Snoop Dogg, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey and Sir Anthony Hopkins, among others, who will salute the boxing great at the Mgm Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night.
Ali turned 70 last month (Jan12) and Slash admits it's an honour to get an invite to the party.
He says, "Muhammad Ali is and always has been a role model and a hero to me. It's a huge privilege to be able to perform in his honour. He is one of the great icons of American culture and history."
The birthday bash will double up as the 16th annual Power of Love Gala - a benefit which raises awareness for Alzheimer's, Huntington's, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Als), Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson's, the disease Ali has been battling since 1984.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health and the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
