Polydor and Capitol Records are pleased to announce the UK release of the Sky Ferreira single "Everything is Embarrassing" on March 24. Co-written by Ferreira, with Ariel Rechtshaid and Dev Hynes-and produced by Rechtshaid and Hynes-the track is at the forefront of a new sound in pop music that is arguably set to define 2013.
Already a cult hit in the US, "Everything is Embarrassing" has won Ferreira acclaim everywhere-from tastemaking sites such as Pitchfork, The Fader and Spin, to publications such as Village Voice, New York Times and Rolling Stone. Coupling a twinkling dance beat with Ferreira's melancholic vocals and off-centre yet affecting lyrics ("acting like it's nothing's such a bore/ I saw the truth and I just can't ignore"), "Everything is Embarrassing" was named New York Magazine's Song of the Year in 2012. The buzz landed Ferreira her live TV debut on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" earlier this month. Meanwhile "Sad Dream", co-written with Jon Brion, showcases the radical range of Ferreira's musical ambitions, evoking the dusty Americana of such folk balladeers as Townes Van Zandt-barebones in its approach, but full to bursting with ache and longing.
Sky Ferreira will travel to the UK for her debut live performances in February, with two London shows at The Old Blue Last and White Heat confirmed. These are sure to be unmissable events, catch them while you can.
