Stars including Sky Ferreira, Nikki Sixx and Ariel Pink have paid tribute to record producer and musician Kim Fowley, who died on Thursday (15Jan15).

The veteran producer, who helped form 1970s group The Runaways, passed away aged 75 after a long battle with bladder cancer, and a host of music stars have taken to Twitter.com to pay homage.

Singer Sky Ferreira writes, "I'm super bummed about the one & only Kim Fowley. He was the first person I almost worked with when I was 14 & he had green hair."

Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx adds, "RIP Kim Fowley. I loved our time in the late 70s planning the downfall of corporate music. You were a fearless original for me."

Musician Ariel Pink, who collaborated with Fowley, writes, "RIP Kim Fowley. No words. Prayers go out to his wife, Kara. His music, life, and spirit will continue to be an inspiration."

Other stars to pay their respects include The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess, Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach, NoFX star Michael 'Fat Mike' Burkett and Har Mar Superstar.
