Sir Paul McCartney was delighted to get rid of aides and hangers-on after The Beatles split, so he could finally fulfil his dream of buying his own Christmas tree.
The Hey Jude hitmaker became frustrated in the latter parts of the Fab Four's career at the way the "goldfish bowl" of Beatlemania hampered his freedom.
So after marrying Linda Eastman in 1969 - as the band was slowly falling apart - he was delighted to leave his team of helpers behind and buy his own festive decorations.
MCCartney tells, "It was the pressures of the Beatles, and also life in the goldfish bowl where you didn't buy your own Christmas tree. Someone in the office bought your Christmas tree for you, and I just got fed up with that.
"So when Linda and I got together I was like: you know what? I can hop down the High Street and get my own Christmas tree, or even take an axe to the forest and hope nobody sees me."
