Sir Paul McCartney, the 68-year-old Beatles songwriter, has become engaged to his girlfriend of four years NANCY SHEVELL, according to People Magazine. Paul Mccartney met the New York businesswoman during a trip to the Hamptons in the summer of 2007.
Despite the 17-year-old age different, a source close to the couple insists they are the perfect match, saying, "Nancy and Paul are getting married. Ring and all.very exciting. They have the right chemistry. They're both cool, chilled out and optimistic". The couple most recently stepped out together at Monday's (2nd April 2011) Gala Dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. MCCartney married Linda Eastman back in 1969 and the couple had three children together, Mary Mccartney, James McCartney and the fashion designer Stella Mccartney. Following Linda's death in 1998, Paul began a relationship with the charity worker and former model Heather Mills and the pair married in 2002. The couple had one child together but their marriage ended with a messy divorce in 2008.
A source close to Paul Mccartney's daughter Stella says the designer is "thrilled" that her father had decided to marry Shevell. The 68-year-old's last studio album, 'Memory Almost Full', was released in 2007. The record spawned the hit single 'Dance Tonight'.
