The title of Sir Paul McCartney's upcoming album contains a cryptic message to the singer's late wife Linda.

Memory Almost Full, due to be released this summer, is a perfect anagram of 'for my soul-mate LLM' a reference to the animal right campaigner's full-name Linda Louise McCartney.

Linda McCartney died in aged 56 in 1998 after a long battle with breast cancer.

A source told the Sunday Mirror that Sir Paul had been planning to release an album entitled Memory Almost Full prior to his first wife's death and that the record would include songs based on the break-up of his marriage to Heather Mills.

"It is a title Paul has had on his mind for a long time, even before Linda died. He'd never have used it if things were going well with Heather," the source said.

"But this record is very much the break-up album. It's an homage to the woman who remains the true love of his life - and his soul-mate."
