Paul McCartney was given a high-speed police escort to his surprise appearance at a Billy Joel gig - because his flight was late.
The Beatles legend arrived at New York's JFK airport on Friday (18Jul08) night, three hours after Joel's historic Shea Stadium show had begun.
But city cops came to his rescue - by whisking him from the runway to the event in just 15 minutes.
MCCartney wowed the crowd by duetting with Joel on Let It Be and I Saw Her Standing There.
Joel's show on Friday (18Jul08) was the last ever rock concert at the venue, which is to be bulldozed at the end of the current baseball season.
The Fab Four famously played there in 1965, at the height of Beatlemania.
