Pop guru Simon Fuller is planning to launch Victoria Beckham's pop career in America - after disastrous record sales in her native Britain.

The head of 19 MANAGEMENT has recently started his own record label 19 RECORDINGS after the success of his AMERICAN IDOL show, a spin-off of the original Pop Idol talent program in Britain.

Since leaving the mega-successful Spice Girls, Beckham has failed to light up the charts as a solo artist with her singles NOT SUCH AN INNOCENT GIRL and A MIND OF ITS OWN . She was subsequently dropped by EMI in 2002 after dismal sales of her eponymous debut album.

However Fuller believes he can launch Beckham Stateside, where she has been a relative unknown since the Spice Girls split.

A 19 source says, "Simon feels it is becoming more and more difficult to make the British music-buying public like Victoria. The reaction here is to hate her and her music.

"But she won't take that kind of baggage to the US market. His new label will release material by American Idol contestants and his British stable. Leading the charge is Victoria."

Besides POSH SPICE, Fuller also hopes to launch original Pop Idol winner Will Young, ex-S CLUB singer Rachel Stevens and Beckham's old bandmate EMMA BUNTON in America.
