Simon Cowell may call his son Simon.

The 'X Factor' star and music mogul has teased he may name his first child with pregnant girlfriend Lauren Silverman after himself.

He quipped: ''My number one choice is Simon because I like the name.''

However, the sentimental star says his second choice is to name the tot after his late father, Eric, who passed away in 1999.

Simon believes his dad would have been ''very proud'' to have a grandson and added: ''His birthday is going to be very close to my dad's birthday.''

The 54-year-old star is also eager for his heir to take over his multi-million pound empire, which includes his Syco record label, TV franchises 'The X Factor' and 'Got Talent' and more.

He told Extra: ''I want to teach him how to do my job as quickly as possible. I want to pass the reins over. I really would like the idea of teaching him how to run the business.''

Simon previously revealed he isn't ''brilliant with babies'' but thinks he'll be a better parent when his son is older.

He said: ''I'm not brilliant with babies. I never know what to do. But once he's older I think I'll be a good dad in terms of advice. And then I'll get to do all the things I want to do, like go to Disneyland or Universal Studios, teach him how to drive - I love all that.''
