Simon Cowell has sent his congratulations to his ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour after she revealed she was expecting her first child.

The 54-year-old media mogul - who previously dated the 'Extra' TV presenter for around six years - took to Twitter to express his and partner, Lauren Silverman's happiness for Terri and her model boyfriend Clark Mallon.

Simon wrote: ''Congratulations @TerriSeymour and Clark. Me and Lauren are very excited for you both. If it's a boy you can call him simon. (sic)''

Meanwhile, the 'X Factor' judge - who has seven-month-old son, Eric, with Lauren - is just as keen for Terri to have a daughter, so he can set the baby girl up with Eric.

Terri told HELLO! Magazine: ''Immediately after congratulating me the first thing he said was he had to be the godfather.

''Then he said it was perfect timing with his son Eric being so young and he hoped I would have a baby girl so he could set her up with Eric and they could date. 'How perfect would that be,' he said. Typical Simon.''

The 39-year-old actress - who is already four months into her pregnancy - has also revealed she made Simon keep the baby news a secret from Lauren so she could tell her herself.

She added: ''Lauren was in New York and Simon was in LA and I wanted to be the one to tell her.

''Amazingly, he managed to keep it a secret - he's usually terrible at keeping them so I wasn't sure he'd be able to do it.

''Lauren has been great. She has been amazing with baby tips, too.''
