Actor Simon Callow is set to receive an award for outstanding contribution to the British stage at the U.K. Theatre Awards.

The Four Weddings & a Funeral star will be feted on 20 October (13) at London's Guildhall.

Announcing the news on Thursday (10Oct13), Rachel Tackley, the president of the Theatre Managers' Association says, "He (Callow) has had a vital and lasting influence on theatre stages all over the country and been (sic) a great ambassador for British theatre during a long and illustrious career."

Callow began his career in 1973 and has directed more than 30 productions and performed in several one-man plays, including a version of Charles DICkens' A Christmas Carol.

Actor Edward Petherbridge, director Sir Jonathan Miller and playwright Sir Alan Ayckbourn will also be honoured at the awards show.
