"My fans are what kept me fighting, and kept me focused on getting better. Everything I love can be summed up by the moment I get on stage. That's real love. That's real music. I'm looking forward to getting back on the road to give the people what they want!" Sharon Jones
Sharon Jones is unstoppable. With four albums and a run of singles that have sold over half a million copies, Sharon Jones And The Dap-Kings continue to headline festivals and sell out shows across the globe, all without ever having a radio hit. It wasn't always this way: in the early years the band overcame every hardship on the road imaginable - from tornadoes and volcanoes, to flat tires and Mississippi sheriffs. However, the greatest challenge for everyone came this past spring when Sharon was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After several months of recovery and love and support from family, friends and fans, the Queen of Soul is back with the new album 'Give The People What They Want' released 13th January on Daptone and a European tour to follow in May.
"The entire Daptone Family is overjoyed and inspired to see Sharon's recovery," says Daptone co-owner Gabriel Roth "Without doubt, this album is the greatest we've ever recorded and we're anxious for the world to hear it. That moment when Sharon walks out to join us on stage again is going to be insane."
Sharon will make her first live appearance this Thanksgiving (28th Nov) when the band and her will perform as part of the Macy's Parade around New York and in front of 60 million TV viewers.
