Seinabo Sey Releases Stream Of New Track 'Pistols At Dawn' [Listen]

Gambian born Swedish singer Seinabo Sey is readying her debut EP for release on 13th October. Entitled 'For Madeleine', the E.P is named after her mother.

The 23 year-old sent the blogosphere in a frenzy with her May 2014 release, 'Hard Time', which charted at No.1 on Hype Machine on three separate occasions. As a one-to-watch on numerous new music lists in her native Sweden, Seinabo also scored a No.1 on Hype Machine and Shazam with her debut Swedish release, 'Younger'; the single was the most played track on Spotify in Sweden. She has now had an incredible five Hype Machine No 1's.

Her next single, 'Pistols At Dawn' has been chosen for the director's cut video of the Rimmel advert, starring Georgia May Jagger and it's getting lot of attention on YouTube. Featuring Sey's rich alto, the brilliantly paced, haunting single is a truly gripping listen, punctuated by gunshots, eerie choir echo and stomach churning drums. Sey is an imaginative, inventive songwriter; 'Pistols At Dawn' is the sort of beautifully drawn, cinematic composition that wouldn't sound out of place on a Tarentino or Robert Rodriguez soundtrack.~

All three tracks will feature on the forthcoming debut EP, 'For Madeline'. Full tracklisting below;

1. Hard Time
2. Younger
3. Pistols At Dawn
4. You

6. Hard Time - alternative version (bonus track)

Sey grew up in what could be described as a chaotic, creative household in Sweden to where she moved from Gambia with her mother and late father, the renowned West African musician, Mawdo Sey. Much of her music echoes her experiences of growing up as a young Gambian woman in Sweden. "I've had to live between two different cultures where you don't really feel you belong anywhere and you have to understand people first to make them understand you," she says.

A truly unique individual, the politically minded Sey infuses her songwriting with a socially conscious slant, propelling pop music beyond the instantly dispensable; this is pop music with meaning.

a sold out jam-packed show at Notting Hill Arts Club in July, Seinabo will return to London for an exclusive show on the 16th October at the Basement  - Edition Hotel.
