A representative for Sir Sean Connery has confirmed the former Bond star has "retired from public appearances" after he failed to show up at an event in New York last week (ends10Apr11).
The Scottish actor was expected to be guest of honour at Tuesday's (05Apr11) Dressed To Kilt evening, which he has previously attended five times.
The snub sparked fears for the 80 year old's health, but Connery's spokesperson has now revealed the star was in fact playing golf in the Bahamas and has decided he will no longer participate in public events.
The rep tells Britain's Hello! magazine, "He told me he wasn't attending and had retired from public appearances."
