British actor Sean Bean was arrested and taken to Holborn police station in central London this week for allegedly harassing his ex-wife with abusive text messages. The Lord of the Rings star, 53, is accused of harassing the actress Georgina Sutcliffe, his fourth wife whom he divorced in 2010.
Sutcliffe, 34, is understood to have been told of the arrest shortly before she appeared on-stage in the West End production of The Mousetrap. The actor had his fingerprints and Dna taken before being interviewed by officers - he was later bailed while police investigate the claims. A spokesman for Scotland Yard said, "A 53-year-old man attended a central London police station by appointment today, where he was arrested and bailed pending further inquiries. He was arrested on suspicion of harassment". A source told the UK's Daily Mirror, "Georgina's a smashing girl and she just wants to get on with her life and move on after the divorce. There's been no suggestion of there being violence involved or threats but police take harassment allegations seriously."
The pair first met while Sutcliffe was managing the bar at the West End theatre where Bean was playing MACbeth. They later married at Marylebone register office and shared a house together in Belsize Park, North London.
