Scissor Sisters singer ANA MATRONIC is still struggling to come to terms with her dad's death in 1989 after he contracted AIDS. The I DON'T FEEL LIKE DANCING star was heartbroken when her father left her mother when Matronic was only six, after realising he was gay. She recalls, "Mum explained that the way Dad used to feel about her was how he felt about one of his friends I burst into tears because I knew this meant my parents would never be together again." When Matronic was 14 her father broke the news that he was suffering from AIDS. She says, "I was angry - he was an amazing man. I got to tell him I loved him (before he died)." Matronic last saw her dad at Christmas in 1989 when he was being treated in hospital for a fatal bout of pneumonia.
