Stunning Scarlett Johansson has signed on to play QUEEN MARY in a new movie adaptation of the life of Mary Queen Of Scots. The actress, who has gone back in time to star in movies like The Black Dahlia and THE GIRL WITH THE PEARL EARRING, will play the British rebel queen next summer (07). The new film will focus on the famously contentious relationship between Mary and her half-sister QUEEN ELIZABETH I, who had the Scot imprisoned as a traitor and a threat to the English crown, and then beheaded. The project is a perfect fit for Johansson - she is currently filming another Tudor period piece, THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL, with Natalie Portman and Eric Bana. Queen Anne Boleyn, HENRY VIII's second bride, was Elizabeth I's mother.
