Saxon drummer Nigel Glockler is fighting for life in a U.K. hospital after undergoing surgery to repair a brain aneurysm.

The rocker fell ill on Monday (08Dec14) and was hospitalised, forcing his bandmates to scrap the remainder of their pre-Christmas tour.

It was not initially known what Glockler was being treated for, but now it has emerged he suffered a medical emergency.

His wife Gina took to on Wednesday (10Dec14) to reveal her husband had undergone surgery, but the operation was not successful and his doctors had to book a second operation.

She stated, "Nigel had surgery today for the brain aneurysm, but unfortunately it was not successful with the first option, so he will be undergoing another operation tomorrow."

Gina then thanked fans for their messages of support, adding, "He is so very touched by them. Thank you all for the love and support, it means the world to us. Please keep the good vibes, prayers and juju coming his way."

His bandmates have since posted their own message on Facebook, which reads: "Nigel Glockler is in surgery. As soon as we have an update from his family, we will post here. Please keep Nigel in your prayers!"
