Adverts for horror movie Saw II have been banned by American censors for showing images of severed body parts.

Ratings organisation The Motion Picture Association Of America (MPAA) has reportedly told Lions Gate Films to remove footage featuring dismembered fingers from websites.

The sequel to 2004 hit SAW stars Mark Wahlberg's brother DONNIE as a detective trying to track down a man who forces his victims to kill each other.

An MPAA spokesperson says the ratings body would have found the adverts "unacceptable" had they examined their content before they were published on the internet.
