The Edge Of Love Review

Bad
In my craft or sullen art Exercised in the still night When only the moon rages And the lovers lie abed

So begins Dylan Thomas' "In my Craft or Sullen Art," a poem about the elusiveness of the inner muse, which resists being easily understood. Though its words never show up in John Maybury's The Edge of Love, an absurdly stylized and utterly feeble supposition on the events that shaped the incomparable Welsh poet in war-stricken London, it points at the very heart of the film's artful damage.

My Beautiful Laundrette Review

Very Good
Unusual and quirky, one wonders how much of a cult hit My Beautiful Laundrette would have been without a very early performance by Daniel Day-Lewis as the gay pal of an Indian entrepreneur. Les Misérables Review

Very Good
Believe it or not, this is the nineteenth adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic novel--and likely the last to star Claire Danes. I've never read it and I've bever seen the play, but it's a good enough flick, I suppose. The tale of Jean Valjean, a paroled criminal who tries to make a new life for himself, and Javert, the obsessed inspector who's always one step behind him, is a good one. The War Zone Review

Weak
Incest. Treachery. Betrayal. Videotape.

No, I'm not talking about the new version of Hamlet. I'm talking about The War Zone, a 21st century Kitchen Sink drama helmed by Brit actor-who-should-stay-an-actor Tim Roth.

Cousin Bette Review

Good
Passable ripoff of Dangerous Liaisons. Tries to be funny (as black comedy) but largely fails, mainly because Jessica Lange is about as comedic as leukemia.
