Sarah Palin's long-running feud with Bill Maher has taken a surprise new turn, after the National Organisation of Women only half came to the politician's defence.Sarah Palin, the Republican politician who was branded a "dumb tw*t' by Bill Maher on Friday (18th February 2011) has only been partially backed by the influential National Organisation of Women, reports CBS News.Despite making the comments as part of a humorous monologue, Maher's comments were expected to be roundly criticised by Now, but the organisation's director of communications Lisa Bennett said she did not believe Ms Palin constantly needed to be defended, telling the Daily Caller, saying, "If you keep us busy defending her, we have less time to defend women's bodies from the onslaught of reproductive rights attacks and other threats to our freedom, safety, livelihood, etc", adding, "Sorry but we can't defend Palin or even Hillary Clinton from every sexist insult hurled at them in the media. That task would be impossible, and it would consume us".
Maher's comments are the latest in the long running feud between himself and Sarah Palin. Earlier this month, the comedian reportedly called the former Governor of Alaska an "unemployed ego lunatic", according to the Examiner.
