Ana and Fernando have previously enjoyed a wonderful life with their two children 10-year-old Lucia and 7-year-old Manuel but not everything can last in life and the parents decide that they must separate. However, the family had already arranged to venture out on a road trip for a long weekend in the north of Chile and, already feeling guilty about the prospect of breaking up the family without feeling responsible for breaking promises, they decide that they will take one last family holiday which will also act as a farewell trip for Fernando. The confines of the car journey soon force the couple's problems to surface and the children gradually become aware of the emotional separation of their parents as they just seek new scenery to play in and enjoy themselves.
