Joshua Corbett stands accused of felony counts of residential burglary, stalking and possession of a machine gun after he was found on the Oscar winner's property in June (14).

Bullock called police in a panic after spotting the stranger making his way up to her attic, and locked herself in a closet as she gave cops a description of the intruder.

In the 911 call, Bullock can be heard breathing heavily as she tells the dispatcher, "I'm in my closet. I have a safe door. I'm locked in the closet right now."

The actress revealed she headed outside to investigate strange noises in her home, explaining, "I thought it was a wind blowing. Then I saw the person."

Officers raced to the property, but faced a delay as an emotional Bullock struggled to open the gate to her home via her cellphone.

They were able to override the system and tracked down Corbett, who was found clutching a notebook with a lengthy letter to the Gravity star and magazine clippings of her.

Los Angeles police officer Jose Bermudez testified, "He said, 'I'm sorry. I love you Sandy'."

Corbett, 39, has pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is currently being held on $2.2 million (£1.4 million) bail.

Bullock, who was home alone at the time of the incident, is not expected to testify during the preliminary hearing, which will help a judge determine if there is enough evidence for Corbett to stand trial.
