Brooklyn-based San Fermin, helmed by 24-year-old composer and songwriter Ellis Ludwig-Leone, will release their self-titled debut album San Fermin on November 11ththrough Downtown Records. The album blends post-rock, chamber-pop, and contemporary classical composition.
After graduating from Yale University in 2011, Ludwig-Leone spent two months at the Banff Centre in the Canadian Rocky Mountains writing the album for a group of unknown musicians. He structured the entire album as a dialogue between an earnest, unhappy man and a cynical, elusive woman, whose parts are sung by vocalists Allen Tate and Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe of Lucius. Additionally, the debut is strongly influenced by Ludwig-Leone's unique background in classical music and his fascination with the grandiose questions of growing up.
In support of the debut release, San Fermin has announced their first ever UK headline tour starting November 7. For their live show, the band has coalesced into a core of eight members in addition to Ludwig-Leone: Rae Cassidy and Allen Tate on lead vocals; Eliza Bagg and Rebekah Durham, vocals/violin; John Brandon, trumpet; Stephen Chen, saxophone; Tyler McDiarmid, guitar; and Mike Hanf, drums.
