SNAKES ON A PLANE has hissed, rattled and bitten its way to the top of the UK and Ireland box office chart, knocking animated movie CARS from the number one spot. The Samuel L Jackson-starring action hit took GBP1.07 million ($1.9 million) in its opening weekend, to go with the $15.3 million (GBP8.1 million) it made in the US. Cars finished in second, taking just under GBP1 million ($1.8 million) ahead of Pirates Of The Caribbean: DEAD MAN'S CHEST, which sits in third place. Animated horror film MONSTER HOUSE is fourth. Teen comedy JOHN TUCKER MUST DIE entered the chart in fifth.
