Rocker Sammy Hagar has scrapped plans for his annual birthday bash in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico after Hurricane Odile hit his bar and flooded it.

The Category 3-level storm has ravaged the Mexican peninsula, and Hagar's home, his Cabo Wabo Cantina and the local airport were among the buildings caught up by the natural disaster.

Sharing a photo of his wrecked Cabo home on, the former Van Halen frontman has announced the 25th anniversary of his annual birthday bash has had to be axed.

A statement from Hagar reads: "Nothing short of a massive hurricane could have kept me from Cabo. But after seeing the damage that Odile's caused to Los Cabos' airport, resorts and town, it's with an incredibly heavy heart that we've come to that decision.

"Our prayers and best wishes are with our Cabo Wabo family and everyone that's been affected by this storm. Los Cabos will recover better and stronger than before because of its incredibly strong community."

His home in Cabo is in need of new windows after the hurricane and the Cabo Wabo Cantina sustained water damage.
