The Les Miserables star will lead the world premiere of the production when it debuts at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California in August (15).

Barks will take over the role played by Audrey Tautou in the 2001 romantic comedy, which was nominated for five Academy Awards.

The production will be directed by Tony Award winner Pam MACKinnon, with a book by playwright Craig Lucas and music and lyrics by folk-rocker Dan Messe of Hem and Nathan Tysen.
