A photographer who was involved in an altercation with actor Sam Worthington and his girlfriend Lara Bingle over the weekend (22-23Feb14) has been released from a New York jail.

The Avatar star was arrested and charged with assault for allegedly punching paparazzo Sheng Li outside a Greenwich Village bar on Sunday afternoon (23Feb14), after the snapper allegedly kicked Bingle.

Li was arrested and charged with assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.

On Monday (24Feb14), the photographer was released without bail and ordered to appear in court in April (14), according to the New York Daily News.

Bingle was also issued an order of protection on Monday.

Worthington was released on Sunday (23Feb14) and is due back in court at a later date.

This isn't the first time Worthington's temper has landed him in trouble - in 2012, the actor was arrested for disorderly conduct in Atlanta, Georgia following a bust-up with a bouncer outside a nightclub. Charges against Worthington were later dropped.
