Music icon Sam Moore and his wife Joyce have filed an appeal following the dismissal of their trademark lawsuit against studio bosses behind 2008 Samuel L. Jackson movie Soul Men.
The couple accused movie executives at Weinstein Co. and Mgm of stealing the Sam & Dave star's story for the film, however, Tennessee District Court Judge Aleta Trauger recently dismissed its claim, ruling the film "contains no direct references to Sam & Dave or Sam Moore".
And now the pair has vowed to continue fighting the legal battle by filing papers for an appeal.
Joyce Moore tells the New York Post, "The fat lady hasn't started to sing yet. And I may be the one to squeeze her toe. We believe there were many errors made. We absolutely believe there were issues, and facts, that are still undiscovered. Sam feels his identity has been ripped away from him."
A lawyer for Weinstein Co., Andrew Kramer, has since responded to the news, telling the publication, "We are confident that the district court's order will be affirmed."
