Sam Mendes is devoting more time to his new wife Kate Winslet by taking a break from directing feature films - and making TV advertisements instead.

The AMERICAN BEAUTY OSCAR winner wed the TITANIC star in secret last month (MAY03), and will make sure he can spend as much time with her and her young daughter Mia as possible by signing up with Gladiator director Ridley Scott's advertising agency to shoot TV promos for the next 12 months.

RSA FILMS, which is also owned by Ridley's Top Gun director brother TONY, can command Mendes a $1 million (GBP660,000) fee per promo, as well as a handsome budget to produce lavish TV advertisements for 'blue chip' companies.

Ridley Scott has famously made advertisements for companies including APPLE COMPUTERS in the past.
