Salman Rushdie's ex-wife Padma Lakshmi has given birth to a baby girl.
The Indian-born TV chef, 39, announced in October (09) she was expecting her first child, branding the pregnancy a "medical miracle" after years of struggling with endometriosis, in which the lining of the uterus grows in other areas of the body.
She was reportedly hospitalised after suffering complications last month (Jan10), but a representative for the Top Chef star has confirmed she gave birth to a healthy baby girl in New York City on Saturday (20Feb10).
The tot has been named Krishna, according to UsWeekly.com.
Lakshmi, who divorced famed author Rushdie in 2007, has refused to name the father of her baby, but recent reports suggest he's venture capitalist and Columbia Business School teacher Michael Dell.
