Bollywood star Salman Khan has been cleared of 18-year-old poaching charges.
The actor and seven other people were accused of shooting and killing a gazelle and two antelopes back in 1998, while filming a movie in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
He was subsequently convicted in a lower court and sentenced to jail time, but Khan challenged the ruling and on Monday (25Jul16), judges at the Rajasthan High Court cleared the 50-year-old of the charges due to a lack of evidence.
The movie star was not in court for the acquittal, which the state prosecutor is currently reviewing before deciding on whether or not to appeal.
Khan is no stranger to legal woes - in May, 2015, he was sentenced to five years in prison for killing a homeless man and injuring four others while driving drunk in Mumbai in 2002. He was released hours later, and subsequently acquitted of the charges in December (15).
