British actress Sally Phillips has spoken of her "total joy" as she raises a son with Down's syndrome.
The Bridget Jones's Diary star is mum to sons Oliver, six, and three-year-old Luke.
Oliver was born with Down's syndrome and was also diagnosed with autism at a young age, but Phillips insists she feels blessed to be his mother.
She tells The Lady magazine, "I was haunted by a friend who wrote two books when her Down's syndrome daughter was born about the horror, the pain, the trauma and then her daughter grew up and read the books.
"I don't want a single word to come out of my mouth for Oliver to read that it's been anything other than a total joy.
"There are enormous blessings. Once you have a Down's syndrome child, you can't conform. In a way you're free."
