The star, who has appeared alongside leading lady Renee Zellweger in each of the film franchise's three movies, wore a strapless, belted red dress with black and white patterning, which hid the bulky boot she wore on her right foot.

It is not clear how Sally sustained the injury, but she made light of her ailment by pulling up her floor-length skirt to show off her new accessory in front of the paparazzi.

Sally reprises her role as Bridget's friend Sharon, aka Shazza, in the new sequel, which also features the return of Colin Firth as the long-suffering Mark Darcy and franchise newcomer Patrick Dempsey as his new love rival.

Dempsey replaces Hugh Grant in the romantic comedy, after the Brit declined to come back for a third film as Daniel Cleaver. He previously starred alongside Zellweger and Firth in 2001's Bridget Jones's Diary and its follow-up, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.
