M*A*S*H star Sally Kellerman fears the gods are trying to stop her from taking to the air after a series of recent flight disasters.
The actress was forced to pull out of a promotional trip to New York in September (10) after airline staff in Los Angeles urged her to reschedule her plans and check into a hospital instead after she boarded with a swollen face.
An ambulance was called to the airport and she was taken to the hospital, where doctors discovered she had had a bad reaction to dental work.
Kellerman tells WENN, "I had a dental operation for implants which took a lot of months to heal. I woke up that morning and I looked like Miss Piggy; my face was all swollen. And I said to myself, 'I'm going!' I was a little uncomfortable but the pain wasn't excruciating. I said, 'I'll just pull my hair over it and tell jokes or something.'
"But I got on the plane and the stewardess comes up to me and says, 'I don't think you should fly like this,' and I told her I'll be fine. I was out of my mind and I just couldn't believe I was gonna miss out on this trip. Finally they said, 'The pilot wants to talk to you.' He said, 'Whatever you're feeling now will be 10 times worse when we get in the air. You'll be in excruciating pain and I'll have to land the plane somewhere in the middle of the country. You just can't do this.'
"I got off the plane and had this huge infection that took another month of healing. He saved my life really."
She recently rescheduled the trip - only for her luggage to go missing en route to New York.
Kellerman adds, "What are the Gods trying to tell me? I made it to New York for the second time and I had the loveliest ride. Everything was great and I was gonna tell everybody about (airline) Jet Blue that it couldn't have been nicer.
"I got off the plane and by the time I get there all the luggage is gone except my big bag with my clothes. I waited for my little bag with all my new make-up, my flat iron, my thyroid medicine, my phone charger. I had all the new products that I had just gotten and I was gonna be so gorgeous with my hair, five boxes of individual (eye) lashes for my live performances and the publishers that I'm meeting with and they can't find it!
"It's absurd to be without all that stuff. I had to go buy a new charger, go to a pharmacist and re-order my medications. There's a fortune in that bag, just the make-up brushes alone that I've collected over the years. I hope they're gonna find it but they're gonna have to pay me for it."
