The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is reportedly awaiting assurances that Sacha Baron Cohen will not appear on the Oscar red carpet Sunday as "The Dictator," the title character in his upcoming movie. The website reported on Wednesday that the Academy was refusing to send Baron Cohen his tickets to the event unless or until it received assurances that he would not try to pull off such a publicity stunt. The Academy No Doubt recalled Cohen's appearance at the Mtv Movie Awards in 2009 when he arrived as the gay "fashionista" Brüno, his title character in another movie. "We haven't banned him," an Academy spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter . "We're just waiting to hear what he's going to do."
