Rapper/actor RZA has been chosen to give one of the keynote speeches at the 2015 South by Southwest Film Conference.

The Wu-Tang Clan star has also made a name for himself in the film world and now he's been chosen by officials at the annual Austin, Texas movie festival to give a speech during the week-long conference.

The head of Sxsw Film Janet Pierson acknowledged the unconventional choice in a statement which reads: "What is inspiring is how his love of film has informed his entire career and creativity. We're intrigued by his increasing work as a multi-hyphenated filmmaker, actor and curator."

Rza has made cameos in multiple films and made his directorial feature film debut in 2012 with martial arts movie The Man with the Iron Fists, which he also co-wrote and starred in. He was also nominated for a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) award for his score for Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill.

Selma director Ava DuVernay and actor/writer/director Mark Duplass are also set to take the podium at Sxsw, which takes place from 13 to 21 March (15).
