Ryan Seacrest 's future as the presenter of American Idol is still the subject of speculation, according to a story from The Hollywood Reporter. At a Television Critics Association press tour yesterday (January 8, 2012), the talent show host appeared to imply that he would be renewing his agreement with the show, when his $15 million per year contract expires at the end of the Season 11. "love this television show... and I can't imagine life without American Idol," he was quoted as saying.
Rumors have surfaced recently regarding a possible move to NBC's rival series the Voice, which features Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green as singing coaches for the show's contestants. Seacrest confirmed that his focus for this year is still American Idol but added that already he has an agreement with Nbc Universal (the network that produces The Voice) and that he is discussing potential positions within their network. This may include a presenting role on the Today show.
Fox entertainment's president Kevin Reilly has stated that they wish to keep Seacrest as the presenter of American Idol, stating "I think everyone has come to realize the value of Ryan Seacrest" and saying, of the role itself, "As we know, it is a much harder job than meets the eye", possibly in reference to the mixed reviews that the Us X Factor host Steve Jones has received for his own presenting role.
