Movie bosses at Fox couldn't see the point of paying the pair overtime just to hang around with Reynolds and director Tim Miller as they were creating the hit film, so the star decided he'd pay them out of his own pocket.

During a recent Geeking Out interview for U.S. network AMC, Reese said, "We were on set every day. Interestingly, Ryan wanted us there. We were on the project for six years.

"It was really a core creative team of us, Ryan, and the director Tim Miller. Fox interestingly wouldn't pay for us to be on set. Ryan Reynolds paid out of his own money, out of his own pocket."

The two writers also confirmed they are currently working on the sequel to Deadpool, which will reportedly introduce film fans to the mutant characters Cable and Domino.

Last week (ends26Aug16), Canadian actress MACkenzie Davis insisted she had yet to be approached to play Domino, despite Internet reports suggesting she had landed the part.

"It’s very interesting," the actress, who will appear in the Blade Runner sequel, told GQ. "People keep sending me print-outs being like, 'This is so cool!' And I’m like, 'Right? I also think it’s cool! But it’s not true!'

"I mean, I'd love to keep the ruse going. It’s sort of cool that people think I'm doing Deadpool. But no! I don’t have any news to share. I wish I did!"

The follow-up to this year's R-rated action blockbuster is set to hit cinemas in January, 2018.
