The Green Lantern star plays lawyer Randol Schoenberg in the real-life story of Austrian immigrant Maria Altmann's struggle to retrieve a series of paintings stolen from her family by the Nazis during World War II.

Reynolds and director Simon Curtis were adamant the actor should don wire-rimmed glasses to convincingly play the role, but Weinstein was reluctant, fearing box office suicide by hiding the star's good looks.

Reynolds tells British newspaper The Independent, "Simon and I were both on the side of glasses. I don't think Harvey was. (He said) 'He's got to look like a movie star - c'mon!' (However) at the end of the day, Harvey was very happy with it all."
