Ryan Gosling and George Clooney will go head to head at the Golden Globes.

The actors are both nominated for the Best Drama Actor award, Ryan for his role in 'The Ides of March' and George for 'The Descendants'.

The other actors in the running for the prize are Leonardo Dicaprio for 'J Edgar', Michael Fassbender for 'Shame' and Brad Pitt for 'Moneyball'.

Elsewhere Angelina Jolie's directorial debut, 'In The Land of Blood and Honey', scored a nomination in the Best Foreign Language category, leaving the actress ecstatic.

She told The Hollywood Reporter: "I was on my way and turned on my phone, and saw the subject line on an email. I thought, this can't be. I never expected this.

"Just to be able to make a film you care about and then get a distributor makes you happy."

'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' received two nods for Original Score - which was compiled by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross - and Rooney Mara is up for Best Drama Actress.

'The Help' was the most nominated film, with six nods, including one for its lead stars Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo.

The 69th Annual Golden Globes are set to be held in Beverly Hills, California, on January 15, 2012, with Ricky Gervais set to host the ceremony for the third time.
