Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is planning to give U.S. TV audiences a laugh, after signing a deal to co-produce a new stand-up comedy show.
Simmons and producer Stan Lathan are following up their hit HBO programme Def Comedy Jam with the as-yet-untitled series for Comedy Central.
The pair's previous TV venture launched the careers of comics including Chris Tucker, Dave Chappelle, Martin Lawrence, Steve Harvey, Mo'Nique and the late Bernie MAC.
Curb Your Enthusiasm star JB Smoove will host the half hour show, which will feature three new comics in each episode.
The series is scheduled to air this summer (10), reports Daily Variety.
