Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is encouraging rap superstars to record anti-war songs.

Simmons has singled out stars SEAN 'P DIDDY' COMBS and Jay-Z as two people who could reach a huge audience if they were to record such material.

He says, "Puffy is much more well known and liked all around the world than George W Bush and Jay-Z is much more well known and liked around the world than COLIN POWELL."

The rap boss has slated American MTV for refusing to screen two ads he made in conjunction with rap star Mos Def protesting about the conflict being premature and flouting international law.

MTV responded by saying that screening such an ad would mean they were obliged to show ads by right wing groups too which it wasn't comfortable with.
