Rap mogul Russell Simmons is bringing financial literacy to young Americans through his non-profit organisation the HIP HOP SUMMIT ACTION NETWORK - which works towards solving problems prevalent in US urban youth culture.
The hugely successful entrepreneur, who has recently returned to work with Def Jam RECORDS, has recruited personal finance expert Suze Orman to give a series of talks on financial empowerment as part of an American tour starting in Detroit later this month (14MAY05).
Simmons tells the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS, "So many people are slipping into poverty. We intend to make personal finance more interesting and accessible to millions of young people."
He is expecting big crowds, after attracting widespread attention with his campaigns to encourage voting amongst young people, and has signed up Eminem to provide music at the debut seminar.04/05/2005 21:16
