Russell Brand looks like he might be preparing himself for more technically superior ways of dealing with annoying paparazzi after pictures showed the British comedian coming out of a karate club in Los Angeles looking sweaty and grumpy. It's unsurprising really, given that the class came at the end of a day that saw Brand prosecuted for throwing a journalist's iPhone through the window of a nearby building after he felt he was getting unnecessarily pestered by the incessant hack.
The incident happened back in March and seemed to have been all but forgotten, however the man involved hadn't and so it is that Brand now faces up to six months in jail if he's found guilty of misdemeanour criminal damage to property by The Orleans Parish District attorney's. However Brand himself seemed to have expected this outcome too, and has reportedly hired a high-powered lawyer to protect him. The likelihood that the British comedian will be doing time for this is highly unlikely indeed.
Writing on Twitter at the time of the incident, Brand wrote "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory." At least Brand would have time to kill if he did wind up in jail; he's recently been widely reported to be taking a break from acting after a series of poorly received films.
