The guitarist filed a suit in June (05), claiming the three Collier County sheriff's deputies were the aggressors in the New Year's Eve (31DEC03) fight in Naples.
But the policemen are fighting back, insisting they were the victims in the fracas. They claim Lifeson assaulted them when they attempted to arrest his son, JUSTIN ZIVOJINOVICH, at a family party at the Ritz-Carlton hotel.
The new countersuit argues that the sheriff's deputies acted within their rights when they arrested Lifeson's son, who was later charged with resisting arrest with violence.
The authorities claim Lifeson shoved one officer down a stairwell, and spit blood in another officer's face.
The rocker was charged with two felonies when he attempted to stop police from arresting his son. The rocker maintains he was zapped with a stun gun while one police deputy punched him so hard in the face he broke his nose.
In April (05), Lifeson and his son pleaded no contest to a misdemeanour charge and received a year of probation.
