Rupert Grint has no plans to follow his former co-star Emma Watson into the world of Disney.
The two stars appeared in the Harry Potter films together as Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger and have both gone on to break their magic moulds with more mature roles since the franchise ended in 2011.
Emma can currently be seen singing and dancing in the live action remake of Disney’s animated classic Beauty and the Beast, in which she and Dan Stevens play the title characters. While Rupert is impressed with her casting, he doesn’t see himself stepping into the shoes of a Disney prince any time soon.
“I don’t know if I would really fit into that world,” he told USA TODAY. “But yeah, I bet it’s fun.”
Commenting on the rigorous regimes that come with such a project, he added: “I don’t think I could do it.
“But yeah, it’s amazing (for Emma). I haven’t seen it yet, I’m looking forward to seeing it.”
Since putting down his wand six years ago Rupert, 28, has appeared in movies including Charlie Countryman and Moonwalkers, TV show Urban Myths and the upcoming series Snatch, which is based on the 2000 crime movie directed by Guy Ritchie and will also feature Luke Pasqualino, Ed Westwick and Dougray Scott.
For Rupert, the small screen is the perfect place for him right now as after playing the same character in the wizarding movies for over a decade he isn't looking for a project which requires commitment.
"That’s always appealed to me, the kind of short-term little interesting characters," he added. "TV’s a really exciting thing to be doing — it’s so much fun, and in film, you don’t really have the opportunity to develop a character over a long period of time and with a series, you can really carve out something quite interesting."
