RuPaul, one of the most famous drag queen artists in the world, has been in typically robust form when discussing the latest season of 'Drag Race,' which begins in earnest on the back of a surprisingly successful run on Logo. The reality contest sees drag queens nationwide in the US competing in a number of tasks in order to be dubbed America's Next Great Superstar and - talking to Red Eye Chicago - the 51 year-old proudly boasted "Our show has become destination No. 1 if you choose to do drag."
Last season's episodes were streamed 14 million times online, becoming Logo's most watched show and it's a statistic its host has acknowledged with glee; "I'm always surprised when people don't respond to shiny, sparkly things. Because when you're a baby, those are the things you want," he said, continuing "I'm not surprised by the success of the show, because it's exactly what babies like, it's what we really like. I'm always surprised when things like that don't fly."
Judges on the show include Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and, with the first show of the new season being in Chicago, one of the city's natives DAN SAVAGE. It was no surprise either to hear Rupaul praising the area, stating "Chicago has always been a pivotal part of my life and my whole story, so to have girls from Chicago ['Drag Race'], obviously it had to happen. I know it sounds so cliche, but there is some great shopping there on the Miracle Mile." The fourth season begins tonight, January 30th.
